HELLO, I am your BALMED community surveyor.

You are invited to take part in an IMPACT SURVEY to assess and gather information on the social, economical and environmental impact of Ebola on communities and households in the area. You will be asked questions about your daily activities, farmwork, labour, trade, processing, harvest and marketing of agricultural goods that are produced by or within the area of the community. The survey is conducted by a committee of International Development Agencies, NGO´s, Private Businesses and the Government of Sierra Leone. The information collected through this survey will be used to identify the needs of the communities and the measurements to be put in place to eradicate Ebola within the next month and return to normal life. Ebola is a deadly virus desease that is transmitted from human to human. (Close contact to LIVING and DEAD persons infected with Ebola, touching, kissing, hugging, breatfeeding, sex, blood, urine, feases and cloths of the infected person.)  The main symptoms of Ebola are: Sore throught, fever, rash, headache, (bloddy) vomiting, (bloody) diarrhea and joint pain. Symptoms are similar like Malaria, Typhoid or Cold. Once a person show symtoms (even if its very small), the person transmit the virus on, to those individuals who are in close contact with the infected person. Doctors, healthworkers and person who care for sick people are at the highest risk, especially when they don´t know that the desease might be Ebola. We hope that we have the full support of the communities and households we are working with in order to eradicate Ebola disease and return back to normal life. ONLY together we can fight the disease for a good future of Mama Salone!
