The Juvenile Detention Center provides a combination of counseling services to detained youth housed in the general population. The JDC mental health unit provides assessment and mental health counseling services to those residents that require direct contact from a mental health professional to manage acute mental health needs as well as provides group counseling to the entire general population. The detention center’s general population staff provides a psycho-educational counseling program to residents through a combination of group and individual counseling.
JDC is developing a coordinated curriculum of group and individual counseling modules to be used across the population in a more structured and consistent format. This will also include gender specific groups as applicable. As a stakeholder in the well-being of the youth we serve, we would like your feedback to help us with the planning process.
