New Entrants Survey Students

Hello:

You are invited to participate in our survey on opportunities for new entrants in the potato sector. By helping provide the fullest possible picture, you’ll be contributing to the development of a new entrants initiative for the potato sector which will form part of a major drive to encourage the best new entrants to join the agricultural and horticultural sectors, providing sustainability for the sector. It will only take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete the questionnaire.

As stated in the NFU Farming Delivers report farming will need to deliver tens of thousands of new career opportunities over the coming years, if the industry is to fulfil its mission of producing more, whilst impacting less. Figures quoted suggest that there will be a requirement for 60,000 new farmer and farm-worker entrants by 2017. As farming becomes ever more diverse and technologically driven, many of these jobs will be for skilled workers.

Potato Council would like to understand how students can access opportunities in the potato sector. Our plan is to put together a showcase for BP2013 (27/28 November, Harrogate) and encourage new entrants to attend the event to meet leaders in the potato industry.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary. Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Your information will be coded and will remain confidential. If you have questions at any time about the survey or the procedures, you may contact [email protected].
