Hello,

You are invited to participate in our on-line survey on the Patriot Act for my Criminal Justice Class at the University of Phoenix. It will take approximately two minutes to complete the questionnaire.

The Patriot Act was enacted shortly after September 11, 2001. This act was a direct response to the terrorist attacks that happened that day. Critics of the Patriot Act claim that the passage of this law gave unprecedent power to the government in general, and law enforcement in particular, to spy on Americans and track their movements. Some people fear that the government will abuse this new found power and use it to further their own agenda and not the agenda of the country. Others argue that the passage of this bill was necessary to combat terrorism in the 21st century and that Congress simply took existing legal principles and retrofitted them to preserve the lives and liberty of the American people from the challenges posed by a global terrorist network.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary.

Your survey responses will be stricly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Your information will be coded and will remain confidential.

Thank you very much for your time and support.
Sincerely,
David S. Rogers
