Perception and Firearm-Related Violence

You are being asked to take part in a research study examining student’s perceptions of firearm-related violence. All Marymount graduate students who are at least 18 years of age are invited to participate. Before agreeing to take part in this study, please read the following information carefully. The purpose of this study is to examine trends in student’s perception regarding firearm-related violence. The results of this study may be shared at academic conferences or published in an academic journal.If you agree to be in this study, check the “accept” box below and answer the survey questions. The survey questions should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. You will be asked questions about your experience to include; Demographic, interpersonal family history, past experience with firearms or related violence, criminal history, and political and media preferences. We do not anticipate any risks to you participating in this study other than those encountered in day-to-day life. There are no benefits to you; however, the results of this study will provide researchers with a better understanding of individual’s perception and how their perceptions are shaped based upon life experiences or where they live.Your identity will be kept confidential. The survey does not ask any questions that could potentially identify you. All answers will be presented in aggregate form and no one will know how any individual answered the questions. Taking part in this study is voluntary. If you decide not to take part, it will not affect your current or future relationship with Marymount University. You may stop participating at any time.
