When the PHV Prius goes over 62 mph, it can run only in gasoline engine mode, not in all electric mode. If that speed at which the PHV Prius does not run in all electric mode were made lower, then Toyota could extend the EV range or use a smaller battery, resulting in lower vehicle price.
