Hello
You are invited to participate in the industry consultation survey concerning the Potato Variety Database (PVD).
A representative selection of potato industry contacts will be asked to complete this short survey about key functions of the Potato Variety Database. It will take about 5 minutes to complete the questionnaire.
It's very important for us to learn your opinions, so your participation is strongly encouraged but is completely voluntary. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project; however, if you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point.
Your responses will help guide and shape the development work of the PVD. The deadline for responses is 5pm on Friday 25 April.
Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. If you have questions at any time about the survey or the procedures, you may contact Sophie Lock at 024 7647 8772 or by email at the email address specified at the end of the survey.
Thank you very much for your time and support. Please start with the survey now by clicking on the Continue button below.
With thanks Sophie Lock, Potato Council You can visit the variety database at www.potato.org.uk/varieties

* 1. Currently the potato variety database (PVD) holds only UK national-listed varieties and those varieties that have undergone the Potato Council-supported Independent Variety Trials (IVT). Would you like to see other commercially important UK varieties listed on the PVD? |
| |
| 2. Any further thoughts on this issue? | | |
* 3. In your opinion, would it be important to have visible identification to distinguish clearly between data for varieties that HAVE and for those that have NOT undergone the UK-based testing (NL or IVT) procedures? |
| |
* 5. Are further searchable characteristics needed for varieties, eg: foliage cover, fry colour, etc? |
| |
| 6. If 'yes', which additional characteristics would be helpful? | | |
* 7. Is it important to you that varieties no longer available for commercial growing are removed from the database or can be excluded from searches?
| |
| 8. Comments/Suggestions on your above response: | | |
* 9. Would it be helpful to be able to transfer selected variety data electronically to your computer, laptop or phone from the live database? |
| |
| 10. Any further thoughts on electronic transfer of data here: | | |
* 11. Would it be helpful to be able to generate a printed version of the PVD (or selected data) from the live database? |
| |
| 12. Any further thoughts on printing of data here: | | |
* 13. Would it be helpful to have weblinks from the PVD to Safe Haven growers? |
| |
* 15. Do you find it useful that there are links to crops within the Scottish Seed Potato Register and the English Register pages? |
| |
* 17. Would it be helpful to add a facility to enable comparison of two or more varieties on the same screen? |
| |
| 18. What would you find helpful here? Plus any other observations: | | |
* 19. Do you think the site needs a new or refreshed 'look and feel'? |
| |
| 20. Your comments and suggestions on 'look and feel': | | |
* 21. And finally... should the PVD be publicised more? |
| |
| 22. Any further thoughts on publicising the database here: | | |
