Hello: The social club is planning a golf day as the next social event.
In order to make it the best day possible, we're finding out how much interest there is out there, and for what kind of day.
Heres some definitions:
Non-golfers – A non-golfer is defined as one who has never been party to the exhilaration of seeing a little white ball fly straight down the fairway, or into a tree, or into a bunker, or seeing that ball curve its way across a sloping green and drop into the hole, or missed an easy (close to the hole) putt……..
Golfers – A golfer is defined as one who HAS seen and been party to all of the above, on a regular basis, and is addicted to the frustrations and exhilarations to the level that they will jump at the chance to chase that little ball all over a course at the slightest hint of an opportunity to do so.
Shot – hitting the ball
Individual strokeplay – (steady on with the mind games !) - what they do on the TV - each player plays every shot themselves until the ball is in the hole (or they give up in disgust)
Ambrose – play as a team of 4, 5 or 6, depending on number of players in the field. Everybody hits a ball, the team picks the best shot then everybody except the one whose shot was selected hits their next shot from there (this spreads the responsibility over the whole team !)
Foursomes – actually teams of 2, despite the name, where both players take turns at hitting the same ball and also take turns at going first off the tee.
