Dear Medical Student,
Surgical training is undergoing radical changes as a result of pressures - both from the medical profession itself and external influences such as the European Working Time Directive.
A Medical career choice is often made before leaving Medical School and this can be influenced by different factors - some correct and some incorrect. Changes to surgical training can seem to be imposed with little or no consultation with those thinking of joining the profession. It is therefore important for your views to be recognised by training bodies.
This (short!) questionnaire attempts to gauge medical students' feelings towards training, principally surgical, and the influences these may have on a career choice. It has been distributed to a number of Medical Schools in the UK and has been discussed with The Royal COllege of Surgeons of England as well as WIST (Women in Surgical Training). Both organisations are very interested in the results. Therefore, the results will have influence about decisions made with regards to your future training.
