Dear Potential Study Participant:
My name is Brittney Brown and I am conducting this survey as part of a study for my Honors undergraduate thesis at the University of Toledo (UT). I am currently conducting research on undergraduate student Facebook usage and I am requesting your assistance with my current project.
Have you ever thought about just how time is spent using Facebook? Have you ever thought about how we all use Facebook? Have you wondered about the impact all of this time spent on Facebook has on our college experience? This study is an opportunity for you share your thoughts on your Facebook usage with educational researchers.
In order to complete the study, I need your assistance with a brief survey. By participating in this study, not only will you be helping me with my research, but you could also play a part in the research on social media!
Your participation is completely voluntary. Please answer the following questions as completely as you can, but feel free to skip any question that makes you feel uncomfortable. You may also withdraw your participation at any time. By completing the survey and submitting it to the researchers, you are providing your consent to participate in this research. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
As a researcher, I am ethically bound to keep your responses to this survey completely confidential. This research will take place over the next month and will happen through online and in-person surveys with about 500 respondents. Your responses will be combined with those from all other participants, and only the overall results will be reported. Should you want the results of this survey, please leave a working email address at the end. That information will only be shared between my advisor and I. Thank you for participating!
