This survey will:
- gather your contact info

- ask about your performance / acting / VO background
- preferences for future ImproVO.
Most questions are required in order to complete the survey.

Background: Each of our workouts is chock full of improvisation activity, scenes and games. We use material based in the work of Keith Johnstone, Viola Spolin, The Second City and more. Our purpose is using improvisation in audio only to help flex our imagination, creativity, character voices and acting muscles - and do it in the same space we work in, our home studio.

It's like going to the voiceover improvisation gym without a script and with your wonderful peers and a fearless leader... in addition you feel that great vibe in your VO workspace!

Let's get started...

All workouts are AUDIO only; you don't need video.

LoveThatImproVO is for professional VO talent, part-time or full-time. Many VO talent come from varied backgrounds, so we want to know your training on improvisation and acting in order to put you into the right group within what we offer.

This next section is about providing information about your voiceover, acting, and improvisation experience.
In the open-ended questions where you can provide details, please give pertinent information that helps us fit you into the right group within LoveThatImprovVO. We have included questions and rely on your answers to speed up this process. Thanks!

* To get started, please self-rate your improvisation ability level from these choices. You'll be able to elaborate later:

BEGINNER - From No improv classes or experience to "just a bit" or "some exposure". Definitely an open mind and open heart!

INTERMEDIATE - A good amount of improv classes or experience or both. OR lots of live performance experience.

ADVANCED - Significant experience and training. Example: Second City Graduate

MASTER - Mentor and Leader of many in this genre. Example: Fred Melamed, Jim Meskimen, Keith Johnstone

* Are you in VO as a part-time or full-time business?

Part-time

Full-time

* When did you get into voiceover, how long ago?

* Now you can elaborate about your improv background. Please provide details about your personal experience with improvisation, whatever it may be. Don't list acting training or experience. That's the next question. So - If you are a beginner to improv, why are you curious about improv? What brings you here? If you are not a beginner to improv, please give details about your experience with and/or training on improv. Things like troupes you've performed with, schools where you studied / performed, shows you've done or workshops you've taken. Additionally, add an idea of current VO work where you use it a lot, or other improv performance experience you know is relevant here...

* Now please offer information about your voiceover acting experience. Provide details about what kind of VO experience you have, at whatever level you are at, so we understand your non-improv experience. When did you enter your voiceover career? What is your background?

* If you didn't answer this above: Who have you trained with for acting? Do you also act on camera or stage? Who did you do VO training with? Are you doing regular VO workouts with others? Are there any hurdles you've faced in VO acting that you want to use improv to help with? (If you don't have anything to add, just add "see above" to move to the next question.)

* There is an idea in the general public that improv = comedy.
Improvisation is being creative, inventing circumstances and responding in the moment while you are participating.
It might be funny, AND it can be daring, bizarre, moving, plain weird or possibly hilarious.
Our ImproVO workouts heartily embrace all the funny, AND MORE! It's about DISCOVERY & INVENTION. We want all of what your wonderful mind will invent! All of it!

The next couple of points are natural results of discovery and invention.

First, it's a priority we all treat each other with the utmost of respect and support, to create an environment of freedom in all of our groups. During an improv 'game' or scene, the invented situation can get messy, non-politically correct or sexy. It can go from mowing the lawn 'boring' to outright 'death'! That's expected and cool. But when we are not performing a scene or game etc., respect and support are the rules. So, when we are talking to each other before and after a game or scene, sometimes we talk about what happened and what worked or did not. All of this is facilitated by your fearless and courageous workout leader, but everyone is expected to respect and support each other like professionals.

Second, we have no rules or limits to make things 'politically correct' because we don't want to inhibit this creative freedom.
Before you join us, it's important you know that the ImproVO atmosphere contains green lights on freedom of expression aka 'wild abandon'. This is how we learn, and break down walls which we have built ourselves, and courageously go beyond. Take it to infinity baby! AND BEYOND! To repeat, during an improv 'game' or scene, the invented situation can get messy, non-politically correct or sexy. It can go from mowing the lawn 'boring' to outright 'death'! We hope you let your mind take you wherever it wants to go.

So - you cool with all this freedom?

Yes. Period.

What is freedom? I believe in reptilians... my master commands me - YES.

OOoooooh - I can't subject myself to this particular type of freedom. hahah YES I can - just kidding!

Sounds like a blast - YES YES YES!

I'm unsure and a little concerned... Please contact me.
