When provided with pre-calculated coordinates for posting (.csv), what is the minimum required setup before posting?

Backsight and station setup agree to 10mm or better

Four pieces of evidence agree to 15mm or better

Backsight and station setup agree to 25mm and a third point agrees to better than 10mm

Backsight and station setup are within 15mm and a third point agrees to better than 15mm

If you are posting a Right-Of-Way (including pipelines) without specific coordinates to place posts, how should you go about determining the location of posts to be set.  Please select all that apply.

Get one of the calcer's in the office to create a .CSV list of coordinates to place posts.

Refer to the GSRI (General Survey Instruction Rules) Part 2 - General survey requirements

Posting each deflection in the ROW is sufficient.

Tie in all evidence that intersects or shares a boundary of your ROW

Refer to the GSRI Part 6 - General ROW surveys

Phone your PM or another BCLS in the office for advice if it is not clear in the field

Always use plan distances and bearings for calculating relative to existing evidence

What is the best practice for minimum requirement of picking up or posting evidence.

Always have your backsight as far away as possible, preferably over 150m.

Survey through the point or survey it from two different setups.

Tie in the point multiple times from the same setup.

When posting with a total station, what tolerances to the calculated coordinate should you work with?  Select all that apply.

10mm or better for posting

5mm or better for posting

20mm or better for posting

25mm or better for check shot

15mm or better for check shot

6mm or better for check shot

When you are picking up evidence for a legal posting, you can assume evidence is not in the correct place if it does not fit the calculated coordinate, provided it is within a few centimeters of the calculated coordinate.

When searching for survey evidence (important for defining boundaries) and you are having a difficult time finding it, you should:

Stop wasting field time and look for other evidence.

Find additional evidence to help reconstruct the original location.

Assume that it is gone and mark as NF (Not Found) if you get nothing on the pin finder at the calculated coordinates.

Phone the PM or BCLS.

Perform a thorough search of a wider area, looking for additional signs of reference.
