The purpose of this questionnaire is to gauge your opinion and knowledge of international security standardization. In essence, international security standardization involves making security processes, equipment, and technology standard throughout the world. This would standardize the provision of security in much the same ways as the metric system standardizes measurement in most parts of the world.

I am a retired police officer having 40 years experience combining technology, physical security and unique training and benchmarking the experience with most of the advanced countries in the world. I am undertaking this questionnaire as part of the thesis for my professional doctorate in criminal justice at the University of Portsmouth. The results of this questionnaire will form a central part of the thesis in that I am seeking to ascertain what are the opinions of security professionals such as you about international security standardization as well as how familiar are security specialists with the security standardization that is underway in various parts of the world.

From the outset, I wish to emphasize that your participation in this questionnaire is both entirely voluntary and strictly confidential. Moreover, it is vital that you understand the purpose of the questionnaire prior to participating in it. The first section of the questionnaire serves as a consent form that specifies your level of understanding of the questionnaire’s purpose. Moreover, the information from this questionnaire will be deleted from the server as soon as the results have been downloaded, and all results will be kept in a secure section of my hard drive and will be encrypted.
