The National Council of the Girl Scouts of the USA meets every three years to make decisions that impact the future of the organization. The meeting in 2014 will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah and GSOC will have a Girl Patrol that will attend meetings and special events at National Convention. One is the National Girl Scout Leadership Institute, held prior to the beginning of the formal meeting and is specifically for Girl Scouts. The patrol will stay at a hotel in Salt Lake City for the entire time. This means you will have to miss school but this is a very special educational opportunity that you will always remember and that many schools recognize as valid reason for absence.

The patrol will have up to 10 members; 1 or 2 of the patrol members will be designated as delegates and will sit on the floor with the Orange County delegation. Delegates will have voting rights. Other members of the patrol will be designated as visitors and will be able to observe all general meetings but will not be a part of the official voting delegation. If you are interested in how decisions are made, the democratic process and where Girl Scouting will go in the future, this is a great opportunity for you!

If you have questions please contact Rachel at [email protected].

Application must be submitted by Monday, January 6th, 2014.
