THE CHICAGO SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH

Please read the following document carefully as your consent is required to participate.

Purpose of the study:
This research is being conducted by Donnisha Hebert, Milton Sanchez, Michael Talley, and Farnaz Yazhari, who are all students in the Master’s program for Counseling Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington. DC. This group of students are conducting this research in an effort to successfully complete the requirements for the Research Methods course which is being facilitated by Dr. Jay Maiden. The purpose of this study is to compare political affiliations between Counseling Psychology students and Forensic Psychology students.

Procedure:
As a volunteer for this study, the following will be expected during the course of the study:

1- You will be asked to respond to a 20-item questionnaire regarding political and social values.

2- Participants will not receive any compensation or payment for participating in this study.

3- Participants will be asked to provide  their area of study.

Potential benefits for participants and the field of psychology:
All participants in this study are psychology students on the Counseling and Forensic track. This study will provide a great opportunity for participants to learn more about the political affiliation and social values of the two disciplines and the extent to which the interaction and affiliations between the two disciplines may enhance the field of psychology.

Confidentiality:
Please be informed that all participants are identified only by a code number and all participants’ names will remain confidential and is accessible only to the researchers, Donnisha Hebert, Milton Sanchez, Michael Talley, Farnaz Yazhari and their supervisor Dr. Jay Maiden. Any information obtained in this study, will be used for publication, if for the benefit of academic world and the future research. Any personal information obtained from you during the course of study, may be used if beneficial for publication, yet any information that may identify you individually, will always remain confidential and will only be disclosed by your permission and under the limitations of law.

Participation and withdrawal:
Please be informed that you have the authority to decide whether to stay or withdraw from the study at any given time. During the course of the study you are free to refuse to answer any questions you do not wish to answer. There are no penalties or consequences if you decide to withdraw from the study.
