You are invited to participate in our survey about representational media use in the design studio. In this survey, students enrolled in architectural design units at Deakin University in Trimester 2, 2013 people will be asked to complete a survey that asks questions about their use of representational media in the design studio. It will take approximately 5 minutes to complete the questionnaire. The survey will involve questions on why you use certain representational media (drawings, physical models and 3D CAD) in your current design project and what the issues are around your use of these media in terms of your learning of architectural design. The outcome of the research will be published in international conferences and journals in the area of design education.

Your participation in this study is completely voluntary and your decision not to participate will not affect your marks for any unit. Data from the survey will not be accessed until after assessment has been completed for the relevant design units. There are no foreseeable risks associated with this project. However, if you feel uncomfortable answering any questions, you can withdraw from the survey at any point until the survey is submitted, after this it is not possible to withdraw your information as answers cannot be traced back to you. Submission of the survey implies your consent to take part in the research. It is very important for us to learn your opinions and your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Your survey responses will be submitted anonymously and data from this research will contain no reference to you as an individual and will be reported only in the aggregate.
