From TI’s beginning more than 80 years ago, its founders decided that the company’s worth was based not only on the strength of its balance sheet, but also on its contributions to society. To honor this commitment to community involvement, the company created the TI Founders Community Service Awards.

Through this program, TI recognizes active employees for their volunteer service and the difference they are making in the communities where TI operates. Volunteerism not only helps our communities but it helps our employees and our business. By volunteering, TIers can help to improve their skills, build teamwork, increase morale and foster a workplace environment where people want to work.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2014 awards. TIers may either nominate themselves, an individual employee, or a team of employees for this recognition. The deadline for nominations is February 28, 2014.

An outside, independent judging panel of community leaders will select up to 15 winners from the qualifying nominations. Nominations from all TI sites worldwide will be considered equally. Nominations will be judged based on several criteria, including the impact of the volunteer work on the community and the leadership shown by the nominee(s).

Winners will be recognized on Infolink and receive a certificate of appreciation for their efforts. Additionally, a US $1,000 donation will be made in their honor to the nonprofit agency for which they volunteered.

Sample Excerpts from TI Founders Community Service Award Winners

"S Gnanavadivel has been organizing Blood Donation Camps in TI India, since 1997 (first under the aegis of Texins and since 2002 under TIIF). Two blood donation camps are held every year (May and December), wherein over 10% of the employees (150+) participate in every camp. The Blood Donation Camps have been held in partnership with Rotary TTK
blood bank, Manipal Hospital, Narayana Hyrudayalaya, Victoria Hospital and Rashtrothana Blood Banks. He puts up posters, sends mailers, takes care of registration and recruits volunteers to help him in his mission of making accessible blood to those in need. The blood donation camps are also run very efficiently and the money spent, if any, is to provide
refreshments for the blood donors."

"Shannee Tong has volunteered in the past for many local charities including the San Francisco Food Bank, St. Vincent De Paul Society, and The Family Giving Tree, but currently, she is actively involved with the East Palo Alto Phoenix Academy (EPAPA) as a college mentor to their senior class. Shannee spends her Wednesday nights at EPAPA helping
guide students through their senior year in high school, the college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship process. Many of the students that she helps are the first in their families to attend college. She also spends nights editing essays and providing support for students online."
