Maximising Potential Award

This award recognises employees who have either challenged themselves or a colleague to further develop themselves. That development might include academic achievement, learning, taking on a new and broader role or taking on additional challenging tasks – any activity that encourages the individual to grow and develop new skills, learning or understanding.

Chiu Yee : She has accepted the challenge to: assist in developing the automation script using Selenium without any prior knowledge of using the tool; automate development of test case design using macros which is a new concept; and last but not least to take up the consultant role.

Khim : In her role as QA team lead, she has consistently pushed the boundary in the area of her work resulting in more efficient and effective processes. Two key outcomes are automation in test case development and test case execution. Recently she led another project to automate spending accounts' claims processing. All these projects required her to learn a new programing language (Selenium) and at the same time to help her team learn. She definitely deserves recognition for her efforts!

Raj : Raj is a future leader within the Development team, and was able to support the Operations team in the absence of his line manager. He has shown great potential within his team, earning the praise of some of the most difficult to please developers.

Challenging Everything to Deliver Excellence

This award would recognise employees who aren’t happy to accept the status quo if it means a client or another employee is receiving a service below an acceptable standard. This employee will have worked tirelessly to remove any barriers to achieve their goal. They will have raised their hand and demanded that something be changed or might have quietly gone about changing those things themselves to improve their service. This employee would be seen as a champion of change – not happy to shrug and say ‘that’s just the way it is’ but would be someone who made things change and improved things so their life and those at the receiving end of their service, had a better experience.

Daniel: Always asks for reasons and tries to challenge on information or concepts that do not seem right to him. Manages the RBS HK renewal well because of the Challenging Everything spirit he has and removes barriers to achieve his goal. He has been awarded MOM twice by his peers both in the UK and Singapore for taking the initiative to introduce efficiency tools for the use of other teams when it wasn't in his scope of work.

Luke : He always challenges process or practises which are not effective, especially with respect to ensuring quality. He has created and implimented new methodologies to improve team performance.

Michelle : Her work with the Client Services team has been impressive and recognized internally and externally. She requires the best of herself and her team continuing to push the boundary. She just never stops working across teams to improve our services to clients.

Being Brilliant Together

This award recognised a team within TOB that has worked together to improve or deliver something that is of value to our business or our clients. The work this team delivers may go largely unnoticed by many employees but that doesn’t diminish its impact. This team has recognised that being a team is greater than the sum of all the individuals within that team and that they can achieve more by pulling on the expertise of every member to work brilliantly together. This team would be described as a cohesive unit all of whom share the same commitment to delivering great service.

RBS Hong Kong Renewal Project Team : Challenged by complicated changes in the RBSelect program, this team has worked together to deliver excellently to the client. Their work and commitment (long hours required) completely reverse client's previous experience. The net result can be seen from a complimentary email from the client and a TUQ score of 9 for this project!

RBS India Renewal Project Team : RBS India has a combined headcount of up to 13,000 employees in two sites. This year, we were asked to combine the two sites. This is a huge task complicated by the many grandfathering rules and differing benefits setup. If it is not bad enough, the team has to deal with corrupted data and last minute changes/request to update data. The team behind this project is completely dedicated to their task, working long hours to meet the challenge. All the tasks were well planned and executed. There is no room for complaints. And there shouldn't be... We have also received complimentary emails from clients and getting high TUQ scores of 9.

Client Services : With the new accounts on board in 2012, handling renewals and the shortage of manpower, the Client Services team worked hard as a team to ensure that our SLAs are met and often sacrifice their personal/family time to deliver work on time even if it means to work till wee hours.

Outstanding Overall Contribution to Thomsons

This is an elite award and as such recognises employees whose contribution to Thomsons is Olympic Gold level. These people constantly raise the bar and achieve sustained peak performance. We admire this person, are in awe of their achievement and believe this person is worthy of being singled out as having achieved a remarkable feat.

Luke : He is a very good all rounder member of the team and future leader within Thomsons. He diligently works, to get the team working together in the correct way. He will challenge things which do not promote effectiveness in delivering a high quality software.

Martin : Despite the pressure of leading the Singapore Development Team, he has never shied away from assisting the other teams. I have heard my times from colleagues that he has helped with this and that... In my interaction with him, he has proven the same. The teams are now comfortable to approach him knowing that he will do his best to help...

Matthew : As a young and promising leader, he has worked really hard to prove himself. It is no mean feat to meet the many challenges he faces including team changes, demanding clients and a boss that tasks for nothing but the best from him and the team. Those who worked under him have constantly praised him as an excellent, patient and understanding team lead. We look forward to raising up with more experience
