Describe the best practice for recording notes during a Topo survey:

What is the preferred method for tying in objects in which you cannot place the prism directly on the reference point (i.e. trees, power poles etc)?

Place the prism anywhere on the edge/outside of the object.

Tie in multiple sides of the object.

Use the offset features in the controller software.

Take a shot near the object and measure the distance from the center of the object to your shot.

What is the best practice for how to tie in continuous points for a feature in terms of numbering (point name/number) convention, descriptive code, and the physical process in the field?

Why are photos of the site important, even if you pick up all features and have a good sketch?

What is the best field procedure to picking up terrain elevations for creation of a surface/contour? Where should your points be and how should they be labeled, etc.
