Training the Recordkeeping Professional: CS

The aim of this survey is to collect data for an Archives and Records Management Master’s dissertation undertaken at University College London.

The purpose of the survey is to establish the benefits of practical recordkeeping experience for students completing their professional training in the UK and Ireland. In this context, practical recordkeeping experience or placements are defined as any experience where a student worked in a recordkeeping environment - including internships, apprenticeships, cataloguing placements, voluntary and paid work.

The feedback you give will help to lend context to the Master’s dissertation, which will also discuss wider academic opinion, and draw conclusions about possible alterations that need to be made to the process of professional training.

Participants will not be individually named (or made identifiable in any way) in the findings, or written work, unless agreed in advance. The comments and feedback will be referred to in this dissertation in the form of statistics and general summaries only.

Participants are given the option to voluntarily provide contact details in the survey, they are under no obligation to do so. This information will not be linked to responses in the written dissertation, and will only be used by the researcher if they wish to follow up particular responses.

The data will be collected and stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. It will be retained for the duration of the project and for a period of up to 1 year afterwards in order to allow for re-evaluation of the data by the research student, their supervisors or examiners for purposes connected with the Master’s dissertation and its examination.
