As many of you are aware, Wecock Farm Big Local is one of only 150 areas throughout England to be awarded £1million from Big Lottery / Local Trust to make a difference to the area for the benefit of local residents.  Wecock Big Local Partnership is a resident-led group that makes the decisions about what money should be spent, where and for what.  The Partnership has to put forward a plan every year to be able to draw down from the national organisation (Local Trust) the money it needs for that year, and proposals need to meet at least one of the Big Local programme outcomes and at least one of the Wecock Big Local Partnership priorities.  A plan has been put together for September 2016 to August 2017 and the Partnership wants your feedback and further suggestions to help with the more detailed planning.

The Big Local programme outcomes are:
1.         Communities will be better able to identify local needs and take action in response to them.
2.         People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future.
3.         The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises.
4.         People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.

Wecock Big Local Partnership has the following priorities:
  • Children and young people – recreation, health and wellbeing, education and learning
  • Older people – tackling isolation, supporting intergenerational activities and accessibility
  • Building the Wecock Community – social, educational and financial issues and involvement in decision-making that affects quality of life
  • Environment and facilities – making best use of open spaces and responding to transport needs
  • Opportunities for residents – health and wellbeing, social enterprise development, improvement skills and life chances

Other uses are being considered
