Welcome to the HR Matrix pay survey for journeyman machinists in California. This survey is specifically for machinists who work with metals on CNC machines such as milling, turning, and wire EDM, as well as non-CNC machines used in model shops such as Bridgeports, lathes, grinders, etc. The questions relate to California operations only.

Please participate in this survey by answering the following questions no later than September 30, 2012. Your responses to this survey will be kept strictly anonymous. Responses from all participants will be combined, analyzed, and the findings reported in their aggregate form. Since this survey is fully sponsored, participants will receive a report of the survey findings at no charge. We anticipate delivering the compiled results to participants by November 1, 2012.

Job Levels for Journeyman Machinists

Entry level: Works on projects with clearly defined objectives and parameters, solves basic problems. Typically requires a minimum of 4 years related experience.

Level 2: Determines and plans approaches for jobs, performs basic programming, solves complex problems. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years related experience.

Level 3: Develops and produces fixtures, analyzes and evaluates operations, performs advanced programming, solves highly complex problems, provides training. Typically requires a minimum of 7 years related experience.

Level 4: As above plus works with and develops new technologies and methods, works with vendors and customers. Typically requires a minimum of 10 years related experience.
