Distribute Settings
What are Distribute Settings in Customer Experience?
Distribute Settings control how often customers can be surveyed and when invitations can be sent, across the whole workspace. These settings apply to every workflow rule.
You can find Distribute Settings under Deploy > Distribute > Settings. Changes save automatically when you leave a field or switch a toggle, and a confirmation message appears at the top of the screen.
What are the workspace settings?
- Workspace resting period (days) – The minimum number of days before the same customer can be surveyed again in this workspace. Enter 0 to turn off the resting period.
- Link expiry (days) – The number of days a survey link stays valid after it's sent. The default is 30.
How do I change a workspace setting?
- Go to Deploy > Distribute > Settings.
- In Workspace settings, enter a new value in Workspace resting period (days) or Link expiry (days).
- Click outside the field or press Tab. A confirmation message appears, such as "Link expiry updated."
How do I set a resting period for a specific survey?
A survey resting period overrides the workspace resting period for one survey.
- In the Survey resting periods section, select a survey in the Survey column.
- Enter the number of days in Resting period (days).
- Click + in the Actions column to add another survey, or the trash icon to remove one.
Surveys that aren't listed use the workspace resting period.
How do I set quiet days for the workspace?
- Scroll to the Quiet days section and set the toggle to Active.
- Under Don't send on, select the weekdays when no surveys should be sent.
- To block specific dates, such as public holidays, click + Add custom date, enter a name, and pick a date range.
Sends that fall on a quiet day are paused and go out on the next allowed day. To set quiet days for a single workflow rule, open the rule from Distribute Workflows and use its Quiet days section.
How do resting periods and quiet days work together?
- The resting period decides whether a customer can be surveyed at all.
- Quiet days decide when an allowed send can go out.
- A survey resting period takes priority over the workspace resting period for that survey.
- Transactions held back by a resting period appear in the Resting period column of Disposition metrics.
What are some best practices for Distribute Settings?
- Set a workspace resting period, such as 30 to 90 days, to prevent survey fatigue across touchpoints.
- Use shorter survey resting periods for transactional surveys that customers expect after every interaction.
- Add public holidays as custom quiet dates at the start of each year.
- Match link expiry to how long feedback stays relevant. Shorter links keep responses close to the experience.
