AI Summary & Recommendations

The AI Summary & Recommendations feature in the EX Analytics Portal uses artificial intelligence to interpret live dashboard data alongside your organization's specific policies, strategic priorities, and guardrails. It eliminates the need for manual data synthesis by automatically generating a structured narrative summary and prioritizing actionable recommendations. Designed with a two-layer viewing model (Company Overview and My Team), it equips HR administrators with full organization-wide insights while enabling individual team managers to review team-specific findings and convert recommended actions directly into action plans in Empower with a single click.

Organization Context ensures that AI-generated recommendations align with your company's unique cultural norms, guidelines, and strategic goals rather than generic advice. To set up Organization Context, follow these steps:

• In the EX Analytics Portal sidebar, navigate to Org Context.

• Upload relevant company documents (PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD up to 10 MB each) under the respective categories:
  • Policy: Standard company policy documents.
  • Guidelines: HR or EX guidelines that recommendations must follow.
  • Initiative: Current action plans or initiatives already underway.

• Provide specific directional guidelines in the free-text fields (up to 1,500 characters):
  • To-dos: Specific directions for the AI to follow (e.g., "Prioritize manager enablement actions").
  • Not-to-dos: Guardrails outlining what the AI must never recommend (e.g., "No compensation changes").
Important Note: Organization Context is accessible only to HR Admins. Non-admin users attempting to access the page will be redirected automatically. Updating the Organization Context version invalidates all existing cached widget summaries, requiring a refresh to reflect the new context.

To add the AI Summary widget to a dashboard tab, follow these steps:

• Navigate to the desired dashboard tab and click on Add Widget. Select Summary & Recommendations.
Important Note: A tab must contain at least one active data widget (e.g., Scorecard, Heatmap, eNPS) before an AI Summary widget can be created.
• In Step 1: Settings, enter a Name and an optional Description for the widget, then click Next.

• In Step 2: Visibility, configure access permissions:
  • Summary Visibility: Choose Private (visible only to you) or Everyone (visible to all users with dashboard access).
  • Manager Settings: Toggle Allow managers to create their own team summary to enable or disable manager-level team summaries.

• Click Create Widget. The widget will automatically read all widget data on the tab along with the active Organization Context to generate the initial summary.

The widget provides a two-layer summary structure depending on your role and active filters:

• Company Overview: Displays the admin-generated, organization-wide summary paragraph and prioritized recommendations. All users with access can view the summary narrative, but only HR Admins can view and act on recommended action items.

• My Team View: Available to managers when manager summaries are enabled and their filtered dashboard data differs from the organization-wide view. Managers can generate a localized summary and view scoped recommendations specific to their direct group.

• To update or refine content, click Regenerate summary. Summary narratives and recommendations can be regenerated independently.
Important Note: When active dashboard filters change or new data widgets are added, the summary enters a stale state. Click the update/refresh prompt on the widget to regenerate insights for the new dataset.

AI-generated recommendations can be turned directly into executable tasks without leaving the portal:

• Locate the target recommendation in the Recommended Actions list and click Create action plan →.

• The pre-filled Empower initiative modal will open over the dashboard. The action title, default owner, and timeframe (due date) are automatically populated based on the recommendation parameters.
• Review or edit the initiative details as needed and click Save. Once assigned, a success notification will confirm creation with a quick link to open the task in Empower.
