Dynamic Custom Variable Update

Custom variables are special variables that can be used on a survey for displaying dynamic text or for logic or for storing metadata along with the respondents response.

You can dynamically update custom variables to store additional data along with the respondents response using the update variable logic.

You can update custom variables anywhere on the survey. To update variables, go to:

Login » Surveys » Edit

Select the Update Variables logic option.

Select the Variable and set what to Update With You can add the variables you need and click on Save.

Following options are available:

• Email Address: If the survey is a tracked survey, you can update the variable with respondents email address.
• Auto Generated Number: Randomly generated number will be used to update the variable. You can set the limits for number selection.
• Date: Variable will be updated with todays date.
• Day: Variable will be updated with todays day.
• Time: Variable will be updated with current time as per respondents time.
• City: Variable will be updated with the city provided by IP geolocation.
• State/Region: Variable will be updated with the State/Region provided by IP geolocation.
• Country: Variable will be updated with the Country provided by IP geolocation.
• Device: Variable will be updated with device detected.
• Browser: Variable will be updated with broswer detected.
• Operating System: Variable will be updated with OS detected.
• Language: Variable will be updated with language selected by respondent.
• Custom Text: You can enter custom text and the variable will be updated with text entered.
