Slider Start Position

Interactive slider rating scales gives researchers the opportunity to produce question and answer styles that incorporate a greater range of answers and improve interactivity on the survey.

By default, all sliders start at the left. For right-to-left languages like Arabic, Hebrew, and others, the slider will start at the right by default.

The default slider start position in the above example may introduce a bias. To negate this bias, you can set the slider to start at the middle of the slider scale.

Slider start positions can be set for Numeric Slider and Text Slider

• Go to: Login » Surveys (select a survey) » Edit » Workspace
• Click on Settings for the numeric slider question

• Under Slider Start Position select the desired position.
• If you wish to specify the exact position, you can select 'Custom' and define the exact position.
• The slider will now start at the defined position.

• Go to: Login » Surveys (select a survey) » Edit » Workspace
• Click on Settings for the text slider question

• Under Slider Start Position select the desired position.
• The slider will now start at the defined position.

When using a numeric slider or text slider, you may want to hide the display for selected option. You can do so by disabling the Display Selection Setting.

By default, Display Selection is switched on. To hide, switch it off.
