Data Slicers

Data Slice is a set of respondents out of the total respondents that can be identified based on a single or multiple criteria. It basically represents a subpopulation out of the total population.

Data slicer functionality enables the dashboard users to create data slices of their own choice for analysis purposes. Using this functionality multiple data slices can be created and added to the dashboard which can help to do comparative analysis based on certain criteria or variables against the total responses.
Data slices can be created and added to a dashboard to identify the level of performance among the different divisions of a company. Further, it can be used to highlight and identify the areas of concern and set the investment priorities accordingly. Data slicers provide the ability to do comparative analysis and derive valuable insights from vast data sets. It also helps to enhance communication with stakeholders and improve engagement with the target audience.

Creating data slices: Once you are on the dashboard click on the “Dashboard Settings” icon on the top right corner of the dashboard. In the “Dashboard Settings” popup inside the Data Slicers pane, click on the “Create Data Slicer” button to create a data slice.

On the new pop-up to create a data slice, enter the name of the data slice along with criteria based on which you want to create the data slice. Criteria for Date range and survey response status can also be added based on requirements.

Apply data slicers: A list of all the created data slices will be shown in the data slicer pane. From the available list based on your requirement, you can enable or disable the data slices from the provided chequebox under the “Apply to dashboard” option. All the selected data slices will be added to the dashboard.

For Bar charts and Line charts dedicated bars and lines representing the enabled data slices on the respective dashboard will be added. It can be changed from the “Data Slicer View” option provide under the Anaytics section of the widget settings.

For few of the charts such as: Bar Chart and Line Chart, “Data Slicer View” option is provided, using which you can switch between two differnt views. 1. Combined - In combined view, all the bars and lines for the enabled data slices in the chart will be displayed combinely. 2. Seperate Tabs - In seperate tabs view, option to switch between all the enables data slices is provided in the chart and separate visuals are shown for each of the selection.

Further, for all other types of charts, interactive buttons (same like Seperate Tabs view) will be added within the charts, using which the dashboard users can switch between different data slices.

On the “Data Slicers” window in the “Dashboard Settings” you can edit or delete a data slice of your choice by clicking on the provided action buttons.
